Deciding on My Listing Type

Every listing on Happyn is one of three types: a service, a product, or a digital good. Picking the right one matters because your listing type decides which fields you fill in and how the order gets fulfilled. The good news? The answer almost always comes down to one thing — how you deliver what you're selling.

The quick decision

  • Does it ship in a box? → Product
  • Does it happen on a date or at a place? → Service
  • Is it a file you send electronically? → Digital good

Service

Choose Servicewhen you perform a task — usually on the day of an event and often at the customer's location. Think catering, a DJ or band, a photographer, a florist setting up on site, or a bartender for the evening.

What makes services special on Happyn:

  • Bookings come in through an inquiry workflow— you review the event details and approve before you're committed.
  • You can publish your availability and a lead time so buyers only book dates you can actually work.
  • You can require a deposit up front and collect the balance around the event.
  • Pricing can flex with the job using per-unit or multi-unit pricing (for example, a price that scales with guest count or hours).

Product

Choose Product when you sell a physical item that ships to the buyer through a carrier — decor, party supplies, custom signage, favors, or anything that travels in a package.

What to expect with products:

  • You set the parcel dimensions and weight, and Happyn handles shipping labels and tracking for you.
  • Buyers provide a shipping address at checkout, and the order flows through the shipping workflow.
  • Products use simple flat pricing per item — you can still add variations (like size or color) and optional add-ons.

Digital Good

Choose Digital Good when what you sell is a file delivered electronically — printable invitations, planning templates, editable designs, music tracks, or guides.

  • There's no shipping and no event day — the buyer receives an email with a secure download link.
  • You upload your deliverable files to the listing, and Happyn handles delivery once the order is placed.
  • It's the fastest type to fulfill — perfect for things you can sell over and over.
