SMS Opt-In Process
How customers consent to receive text messages from Happyn.
Happyn is an online marketplace where hosts book vendors for events — caterers, entertainers, decorators, photographers and similar services. Our text message program, Happyn Order & Booking Alerts, sends transactional notifications about a user's own bookings and orders. We send no marketing or promotional text messages.
Consent is collected on our website, after login
Text messaging is an account setting, so the opt-in lives inside a signed-in Happyn account rather than on a public form. This page documents that flow in full, including screenshots of the actual screens, so it can be reviewed without an account.
The opt-in flow, step by step
- Create a Happyn account. A visitor signs up at happyn.com with an email address. No phone number is requested at signup, and no text messages are sent at this stage.
- Add a mobile number. In Account Settings → Profile, the user can optionally save a mobile number. The field is labelled for order and booking updates and carries the note: “We only text you if you turn on SMS under Notifications.” Saving a number does not subscribe anyone to anything.
- Turn on SMS for Order updates. In Account Settings → Notifications, the user switches on the SMS column for “Order updates.” This toggle is off by default, both in the interface and in our database. It is never pre-selected, and nothing is sent until the user turns it on and saves.
- Consent is recorded. We store the date and time, the IP address, the browser user agent, and the exact version of the disclosure text shown on screen at that moment. Opting out later adds another record; nothing is overwritten.
The exact disclosure shown at the point of consent
This wording appears on the Notifications settings screen, directly beneath the SMS toggle. It is reproduced here verbatim:
I agree to receive order and booking text messages from Happyn at the number provided, including messages sent by autodialer. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. SMS Terms and Privacy Policy.
Consent is not a condition of purchase. A user can book vendors, pay, and use every part of Happyn without ever enabling text messages.

Message frequency and cost
Message frequency varies with the user's own activity — the orders they place and the bookings they accept. There is no recurring broadcast. Happyn does not charge for text messages; message and data rates may applydepending on the recipient's mobile plan.
Opting out and getting help
Every message we send ends with “Reply STOP to opt out.” Replying STOP unsubscribes the number immediately and returns:
Happyn: You have been unsubscribed and will receive no further texts. Reply START to resubscribe.
Replying HELP returns:
Happyn: order & booking alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel. Help: support@happyn.com
Replying START resubscribes and returns:
Happyn: you are subscribed to order & booking alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.
Users can also switch SMS off at any time in their notification settings. Opting out of texts does not affect their account, bookings, email notifications, or in-app notifications.
