The prices shown at checkout already include Happyn's 8% service fee. For products, you're charged at checkout. For service bookings, we securely authorize your payment but only charge you once the vendor confirms — and some services require a deposit, which you'll see in the booking agreement before you book. Vendors get a response window that's shorter for soon-to-happen events and longer for far-off ones. If a vendor can't confirm in time, the authorization is released and you're never charged.

Are my payment details secure?

Yes. All payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-compliant payment processor. Happyn never stores your full card number.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it?

For eligible products, you can start a return or exchange request from My Account → Purchases by opening the order and following the guided steps. For services — or anything the guided flow doesn't cover — reach out to the vendor directly through the Messages section on your event page. Whether a change or cancellation is possible — and any associated fees or refunds — depends on the vendor's individual policy.

Visit My Account → Purchases to see all of your past orders. You can also open any event page to see every order linked to that event.

Does Happyn charge a service fee?

Yes. The prices you see at checkout already include an 8% Happyn service fee — there's no separate line added at the end. The fee covers secure payment processing and the event planning tools that come with every purchase, like the budget tracker, checklist, themes, favorites, and vendor messaging. Why do some service bookings require a deposit?

Some services require a deposit, set individually by the vendor, to reserve your date and cover their upfront costs. The deposit amount and terms are shown in the booking agreement before you confirm, so you'll always know what's required up front. If a vendor asks for an unusually large deposit, they're required to explain why right in the agreement.

What is a rush fee?

When you book a service close to your event date — inside the vendor's normal lead time — the vendor may add a rush fee to cover the short turnaround. If one applies, it's included in your total before you check out, so there are no surprises.

How is booking a service different from buying a product?

Products are purchased outright at checkout. Services — like catering, photography, or entertainment — require the vendor to confirm availability first. Your payment is authorized but only charged once the vendor accepts your booking, so you're protected if they can't fulfill it.

How do I know when a vendor has confirmed my booking?

You'll receive an email notification as soon as a vendor confirms. You can also check the status at any time from your event's Purchases section.

What happens if a vendor can't fulfill my booking?

If a vendor doesn't confirm within their response window, your payment authorization is automatically released and you won't be charged anything. We'll let you know so you can book an alternative vendor.

Yes. Use the Messages section on your event page to ask questions, share details, or coordinate with a vendor at any point before or after booking.

Why was an event automatically created when I made a purchase?

To keep things organized, every purchase needs an event to belong to. If you bought something without setting one up first, we automatically created a placeholder event based on your order so all your bookings, vendors, and details live in one place. You can review and update it any time.

How do I edit or update an auto-created event?

Go to My Events, open the event, and edit the details — including the event name, date, location, and guest count. Updating these helps vendors serve you better and keeps everything accurate.

Can I add more purchases to an existing event?

Yes. New orders are linked to your active event automatically, so you can keep adding products and services to the same event as you plan.

Do I need to create an event before I can buy?

No. You can start shopping right away — if you don't already have an event set up, we'll create one for you automatically when you check out.
